Ship Norwegian Joy
In April 2017, the second ship of the Breakaway Plus class set sail for the first time, namely Norwegian Joy - the most innovative ship of Norwegian Cruise Line to date. The ship was custom-built for Chinese clients, who have access on board not only to staff fluent in their language but also to authentic Chinese cuisine and entertainment inspired by Chinese culture. Its home ports are Shanghai and Tianjin (Beijing). The ship was renovated in 2020.
Norwegian Joy brings many firsts. A large part of the upper deck is occupied by a racing go-kart track, and adrenaline is also offered by the Galaxy Pavilion with interactive video walls, simulators, and virtual reality. The heart of the ship is the enormous social space 678 Ocean Place, at the center of which is the largest casino the company has offered on its ships so far. Stunning views are available from the 400-meter-long promenade The Waterfront.
The ship takes care of passengers' appetites with a total of 29 restaurants, cafes, and bars. The main dining room's menu changes daily, and it is possible to find chef's specialties complemented by carefully selected wine. Manhattan Room is a New York City-style restaurant serving international and Chinese cuisine, while Savour and Taste focus exclusively on Chinese cuisine, and Teppanyaki serves Japanese specialties. Those who want to try something different can visit the American Diner or Cagney's Steakhouse, both with American menus, or the Italian La Cucina or French Le Bistro.
Aquapark boasts a double waterslide Ocean Loop or the fast slide Aqua Racer, and for those who prefer dry land entertainment, there is a laser arena. Mandara Spa offers 50 different treatments for the pleasure of body and soul, fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the Pulse Fitness Center with strength and cardio machines and group yoga or pilates classes. A rich evening program and activities for children and teenagers are not to be missed.
