The most interesting from Olden's history:

The area of Olden was settled as early as the time of the Vikings and for centuries was primarily associated with fishing, agriculture, and trade along the Norwegian fjords. Due to its location at the end of the Nordfjord, Olden represented an important connection between the coast and the mountainous inland areas. The local inhabitants have been closely connected with the harsh but beautiful Norwegian nature for generations, shaping the everyday life of the entire region. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the area began to be discovered by the first foreign travelers and mountain hiking enthusiasts, attracted mainly by the surrounding glaciers and dramatic fjord landscapes. Gradually, Olden became one of the most famous tourist destinations in western Norway and today is also among the popular stops for cruise trips through Northern Europe. Visitors are still enchanted by the unique combination of majestic nature, glaciers, fjords, and a peaceful Nordic atmosphere.
