The new MSC Preziosa was christened on March 23, 2013 in the Italian city of Genoa, the birthplace of the famous Christopher Columbus. In 2010, STX France and the Libyan state company General Nation Maritime Transport Corporation signed an agreement to build a cruise ship similar to MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia. On the suggestion of Libyan Hannibal Gaddafi, it was to be named Phoenicia. The ship's design was to incorporate a 120-ton large shark aquarium. During construction, in February 2011, a civil war broke out in Lebanon, and STX France canceled the contract and began looking for a new buyer. In June 2011, MSC Cruises purchased the ship and it was named MSC Preziosa.

This ship sails the Mediterranean Sea and Northern Europe, which are the most sought-after in Europe. MSC Preziosa boasts 18 decks, 14 of which are dedicated to passengers. They can be accommodated in 1751 cabins. The ship reduces carbon dioxide emissions and includes wastewater treatment plants. It is as environmentally friendly as its sister ship MSC Divina. MSC Preziosa offers uniqueness, luxury, but also the necessary relaxation to ensure you have the most beautiful vacation.

MSC purchased the Preziosa ship for 550 million euros.
