Ship Oasis of the Seas
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was the Titanic that amazed the world with its monumentality and primacy - a hundred years later, it is the Oasis of the Seas. One of the largest ships in the world could accommodate, for example, all the inhabitants of Lysá nad Labem, with a capacity of 8,520 people, precisely 6,360 passengers and 2,160 crew members. In 2019, the ship underwent a renovation as part of the Royal Amplified project.
The moving city on water weighs an incredible 225 thousand tons and is five times larger than the Titanic. The ship is so gigantic that its docking requires high above-standard port parameters, and some ports simply cannot accommodate it. On its first journey across the Atlantic, the ship was closely watched, especially in Denmark, where it had to pass under the Belt Bridge, the second-largest suspension bridge in the world. There was a gap of only 50 centimeters between the vessel and the bridge, and the ship even had to lower its chimneys.
The ship arrived in Florida, where it was christened, from Finland, where it was built for Royal Caribbean International. The ceremonial christening took place on November 30, 2009, at the port of Ford Lauderdale. Since the ship is truly a giant, one godmother or godfather would not suffice, so personalities like singer Gloria Estefan or actresses Jane Seymour and Daisy Fuentes were present.
The ship has a total of 16 decks with 2,700 cabins. The most demanding passengers have access to 28 duplex rooms and luxury suites with an area of 150 m2 with windows the size of two floors and balconies overlooking the sea or the promenade.
