The name of the ship MSC Sinfonia refers to classical European composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, or Tchaikovsky. Its construction began in 1999 for the company MS European Vision, just like its sister ship Armonia. After the company went bankrupt, the ship was seized and remained docked in Barcelona for several months. In July 2004, it was purchased by MSC Cruises for 220 million euros. Under their ownership, it was expanded with additional decks and private balconies. For the first time, it set sail as MSC Sinfonia in March 2005.

Since then, its comfort, furnished with minimalist furniture, has been enjoyed by up to 2,679 passengers in 980 cabins.

The cruise ship underwent extensive renovation as part of the "Renaissance Program". Onboard, guests are delighted by new balcony cabins offering beautiful views of the sea surface. The ship also provides modified and enlarged spaces with many restaurants and bars.

The production cost of MSC Sinfonia was approximately 245 million USD.
