The most interesting from the history of Fiskardo:
The history of Fiskardo dates back to antiquity, when the northern coast of Kefalonia was settled due to its strategic location and naturally protected harbor. However, it experienced a significant period especially during the Venetian rule, when Fiskardo became an important trade and maritime center and acquired its characteristic architectural style. The town, as one of the few on Kefalonia, did not change significantly even after the devastating earthquake in 1953, which destroyed much of the island, and therefore still retains its original colorful houses and historical atmosphere. Due to its location on trade maritime routes, Fiskardo was for centuries a significant port where influences of different cultures met. In the 20th century, it gradually transformed from a quiet fishing village into a sought-after resort, yet it has retained its authentic character.
