The most interesting from the history of Bar:
The historical roots of the town go deep into antiquity, when it was a significant maritime center known by the Latin name Antivari. In the Middle Ages, the town came under the rule of the Venetians, later falling to the Ottoman Empire, which made it an important trade center. At the turn of the 19th century, under the rule of Montenegrin King Nikola I, the era of modernization of the port began. A key moment was the establishment of the railway line connecting Bar with Belgrade, which significantly strengthened the strategic importance of the town. Thanks to the railway, Bar became a significant point of interest during both world wars. Today, the historic town of Old Bar ("Stari Bar") is considered one of the best-preserved medieval settlements in Montenegro.
