The most interesting from the history of Visby:

Thanks to its strategic location on the island of Gotland, Visby was one of the main trading centers in the Baltic Sea region during the Middle Ages. As a significant member of the Hanseatic League, it played a crucial role in international trade, attracting merchants from various parts of Europe. The period of its greatest prosperity was in the 13th and 14th centuries when the town flourished and rapidly developed. With the gradual decline in its commercial importance, Visby lost its former role, which paradoxically contributed to preserving its historical appearance in an exceptionally authentic state. Today, Visby is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and represents an extraordinarily valuable testimony to the medieval past.

Getting to the port:

Cruise ships either dock directly at the Port of Visby at the modern Visby Cruise Terminal, or anchor offshore. In the case of anchoring outside the port, a transfer to the mainland using smaller boats (tenders) is provided, which is common especially for larger ships. If the ship docks at the pier, you can reach the historic center of Visby with a comfortable walk in approximately 10–15 minutes. You can also use the shuttle bus, which provides a quick connection between the port and the entrance to the old town.
