The most interesting from the history of Isafjordur:

Isafjordur is one of the oldest inhabited places in Iceland and its history is closely linked to fishing. Since the Middle Ages, it has been an important trading center in the Westfjords area. Thanks to its sheltered position in the fjord, it became a natural harbor from which fish were exported to Europe. In the 19th century, the town experienced development thanks to merchants who built a number of houses here, some of which are among the oldest preserved buildings in Iceland. Today, Isafjordur is a quiet center of the region, which has retained its authentic atmosphere and also serves as a starting point for exploring one of the wildest parts of Iceland.

Getting to the port:

Cruise ships dock directly in the harbor in the city center, from where everything is easily accessible on foot. Thanks to the small size of Isafjordur, you can reach the main attractions, shops, and restaurants in a short time. In case of adverse weather conditions or lack of space, the ship may anchor at sea, and tender boats will be used for transport to the harbor pier.
